Elaine Roth is Professor of Film Studies and Chair of the English Department at Indiana University South Bend. Currently she is Mercator Fellow within the Research Training Group "The Sentimental in Literature, Culture, and Politics" at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. In the classroom and her writing, Professor Roth aims to uncover the "quiet politics" of the movies and the cultural production around them.Her current research focuses on sentimental modes in fictional pandemic media, the writer Patricia Highsmith, and early US-American cinema.
